CJPAN Holds 7th AGM, Honours Six, Inducts Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan as Grand Patron

The Celebrity Journal Publishers Association of Nigeria (CJPAN) on Thursday, November 20, 2025, held its 7th Annual General Meeting and Award Ceremony at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, TMnews report.

The event, which had the theme “Strengthening the Voice of Celebrity Journalism in the Digital Era,” attracted journalists, entertainers, media executives and stakeholders. The session was moderated by activist and author, Mr. Somi Uranta.

Six honourees received recognition for their contributions to society and their respective fields. They include Abass Akanni Obesere, who received the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award; CSP UBA Adams, honoured as Crime Buster of the Year; Hon. Fayomi Abraham Ajibola, awarded Icon of Hope & Community Service; Prophet Asari Ose Tutu, recognised as the Most Consistent Man of God in Africa; and Iron Resources Limited, named Distinguished Interior Firm of the Year. The Artiste of the Year 2025 was also announced.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the induction of Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, philanthropist and newly appointed Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), as the Grand Patron of CJPAN.

In her address, the President of CJPAN, Mrs. Funmi Olowosegun, described the AGM as a significant moment in the association’s development. She noted that despite challenges such as dwindling revenue, fake news, digital disruption and declining print readership, the association had remained focused on professionalism, partnerships and progress.

Olowosegun called on members to remain committed to ethical and factual reporting, stressing that the digital age requires increased responsibility and integrity from journalists. She said the association would prioritise expanded media partnerships, improved welfare for members, digital capacity development and mentorship programmes for young journalists in 2026.

She commended past and present executives for their dedication, and expressed appreciation to sponsors and partners for their continued support.

The event ended with a renewed pledge by members to strengthen the influence of entertainment and celebrity journalism in Nigeria.
