Governor Abiodun Reconnects Ifo Constituency 2 to Ogun State

Residents of Ifo Constituency 2 in Ogun State have expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, for what they described as a long awaited reconnection to government after years of neglect.

For nearly two decades after the administration of Aremo Olusegun Osoba, the constituency covering Akute, Alagbole, Ijoko, Giwa and surrounding communities suffered poor infrastructure and abandoned projects. Many residents recalled uncompleted bridges, bad roads, and demolitions that disrupted lives without meaningful benefits.

Governor Abiodun’s administration has, however, changed the story through a series of projects aimed at restoring the area’s socio economic importance. The projects include the construction of Denro Ishashi Road, commissioning of Olusegun Osoba Road, construction of Toyin/Giwa Road, rehabilitation of Akute Alagbole Road, and the ongoing phased reconstruction of the Ijoko Agbado Road.

Community leaders say the interventions have restored confidence in government. “We felt abandoned for years, but today our constituency is back on the state map,” said Mrs. Funmilayo Adekoya, a market leader in Alagbole.

The transformation also played a key role during the 2023 elections, where residents defied opposition campaigns and voted overwhelmingly for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Beyond state projects, Ifo II has also benefited from federal initiatives facilitated through Ogun Central Senator, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu. These include a new ICT Centre and a 20-bed Renewed Hope Primary Healthcare Centre in Isheri Olofin.

The member representing Ifo II in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Fola Salami, commended the governor’s inclusive governance style, noting that new schools and other legacy projects are also underway.

With ongoing works and pending phases of road projects, residents say they are hopeful that Governor Abiodun will complete more developments before the end of his administration.
