OGSG SET TO HARMONISE TELECOM PERMITS

The State Government is set to harmonise all operational guidelines necessary to ensure seamless takeoff by telecommunication operators and other potential investors in the sector.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Tunji Odunlami who gave this assurance in Abeokuta, during a meeting with Telecommunication Service Providers, added that the move has become imperative to remove the gridlock in the application processes for building permit for telecommunication infrastructure, rather than the disjointed approach which is currently causing delay in the approval process.

He expressed readiness to engage the State Internal Revenue Services and Bureau of Land and Survey to proffer seamless solutions to addressing the present cumbersome procedures, advising the operators to avail the Ministry of the route map of all existing optic fibres infrastructure in the State.

In his contribution, Special Adviser, Information and Communication Technology, Mr. Dayo Abiodun urged the operators to discontinue project work whenever the Ministry issues the ‘stop work order’.

He explained that the ‘Dig one Policy’ was instituted to make Optic fibre deployment easier, saying it could affect existing infrastructure.

In their separate remarks, representatives of MTN and Airtel, Messer Kale Brown and Ogunwale Babayemi respectively expressed readiness to collaborate with the State government, towards improving telecommunication services in the State.
