Ogun State government says it will intensify efforts at ensuring mass production and distribution of Covid-19 relief packages across the State while the lockdown lasted.
Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot  Salako-Oyedele made this assurance during an on the spot assessment visit to one of the food production centres in Ikenne, where the food vendors were being housed.
While speaking with pressmen on how the State was able to achieve the massive production and distribution of food items across the Local Government Areas, the Deputy Governor explained that, the vendors buy food items like garri, rice and beans in bulk, as well as cartons of tomato paste, vegetable oil,  seasonings and salt to meet with its daily target.
"We have a couple of vendors engaged to do this in three different locations. They employ labourers, re-bag the purchases into 5KG bags and we also have stichers, who stitch the bags being packed and a bigger bag where they put all the different items; so what each household gets is a seven-in-one bag with different items", she noted.
She added that the vehicles come in and load the readymade items for onward distribution to various communities, noting that on an average basis, between 8,000 to 10,000 bags were being produced on daily basis.
