 Lagos Taskforce Intensifies Crackdown, Arrests 46 Suspects in Security Sweep

The Lagos State Taskforce has intensified its campaign against criminal activities across the state, arresting 46 suspected offenders during a coordinated enforcement operation aimed at improving public safety and restoring order, TMnews report.

The operation, carried out on Friday, covered strategic locations including Muri-Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Obalende Underbridge, Law School Junction, Maroko, Sandfill by Mobil Bus Stop, and Marwa Bus Stop along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the operation targeted street urchins, suspected miscreants, drug peddlers, illegal commercial motorcycle operators, street traders, illegal ticket touts and other individuals believed to be involved in criminal activities.

The agency disclosed that dangerous exhibits recovered from the suspects included substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Colorado and cannabis, a cutlass and a locally fabricated dane gun.

Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele said the operation forms part of the agency's sustained efforts to secure Lagos and deny criminal elements any safe haven within the state.

Akerele reiterated that the Taskforce remains committed to continuous intelligence-driven enforcement operations across Lagos, stressing that the safety of residents and the protection of lives and property remain top priorities of the agency.

He assured residents that the Taskforce would continue to work tirelessly to ensure that criminal activities are curtailed while maintaining law and order in line with the directives of the Lagos State Government.

The Taskforce also confirmed that normalcy had been restored in all the areas visited during the operation.

According to the agency, all 46 suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017 and the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.

The latest operation underscores the Lagos State Taskforce's renewed determination under CSP Adetayo Akerele's leadership to strengthen security, tackle street crime and enhance public confidence through sustained enforcement across the state.
