TMnews Award Recipient Oyetola Hosts New IGP Disu, Strengthens Maritime Security Alliance

The Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and 2024 TMnews Award recipient, His Excellency, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, on Thursday received the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, during a high-level courtesy visit in Abuja.
The strategic engagement highlighted the Minister’s continued leadership in strengthening Nigeria’s maritime governance, as discussions focused on enhancing institutional collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and the Nigeria Police Force.Both leaders emphasized the urgent need for coordinated inter-agency operations to improve maritime surveillance, bolster enforcement mechanisms and safeguard Nigeria’s coastal and inland waterways from emerging security threats.Dr. Oyetola, widely recognized for his visionary reforms and honoured by TMnews Magazine in 2024 at Oriental Hotel Victoria Island Lagos for his outstanding public service, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building strong partnerships that will protect national assets and unlock the vast economic potential within Nigeria’s marine and blue economy sector.IGP Disu, in his remarks, pledged the full support of the Police Force in advancing maritime security, noting that effective policing of the nation’s waterways remains critical to national stability, economic growth and investor confidence.
The meeting marks a significant step in reinforcing synergy between key federal institutions, underscoring a shared resolve to promote safety, security and sustainable development across Nigeria’s maritime domain.
