Ogun 2027: Over 1,000 Residents Rally Behind Yayi at Ota Town Hall

More than 1,000 residents of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area on Wednesday converged on the council secretariat in Ota as the Abiodun Akinboyede Movement (AAMO) organised a town hall meeting that turned into a strong show of support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

The meeting, themed “The Impact of Grassroots in Governance,” drew traditional rulers, market women, artisans, youth groups, politicians and Community Development Associations, all of whom emphasised the need for increased grassroots participation in governance.

Convener of the event, Prince Abiodun Akinboyede, said the gathering was designed to bridge the gap between leaders and the people while strengthening the quest of Ogun West to produce the next governor of the state.
He said governance could only thrive through active collaboration between leaders and citizens.

“The theme of our gathering is timely and significant because governance is not built in isolation; it is built in partnership with the people,” Akinboyede said.

He added that the meeting represented a defining moment for Ogun West, noting that the senatorial district had waited for decades for an opportunity to occupy the state’s highest political office.

“For about 50 years since the creation of Ogun State, Ogun West has waited for its turn. Today, we are sending a message that our voices matter, our participation matters and our unity matters,” he stated.
Akinboyede urged residents to remain united, insisting that sustainable development could only be achieved through grassroots involvement.

Leadership expert, Dr Femi Bolaji, who spoke at the event, advised residents to obtain and make effective use of their Permanent Voter Cards, stressing that every vote would count in determining the future of the state.

Representing the Olota of Ota, the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives candidate for Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, Lanre Bashorun, popularly known as Larrybash, commended Akinboyede for creating a platform for dialogue and urged residents to support Adeola, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver infrastructure and human capital development.
Also speaking, the Secretary-General of the Sango-Ota Arewa Community, Alhaji Haruna Umar Farouk, pledged the support of the community for Adeola’s governorship aspiration, while the Oba of Bajomu, Oba Olabisi Odunaro, urged residents to vote massively for the senator, citing projects facilitated across Ado-Odo/Ota.
The Sango-Ota Youth Council, market women, butchers and Community Development Associations equally declared support for Adeola.

Chairman of the CDAs, Omooba Olatunji Onaolapo, called for stronger engagement between government and community associations, improved infrastructure and the creation of additional polling units.
The event ended with the inauguration of the AAMO Door-to-Door Campaign Movement, aimed at mobilising grassroots support for Adeola ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Among dignitaries present were the Oba of Ado-Odo, Oba Moruf Alagbe; the Elegushi of Egushi-Ota, Oba Waliu Oduntan; Oba Samuel Dada; the Oloruba of Oruba-Ota, represented by Chief Lateef Deinde; Ado-Odo/Ota APC Women Leader, Walia Ogunbiyi, who represented Governor Dapo Abiodun; Ogun West APC Chairman, Prince Deji Dosunmu; Ola Sheu; and the Seriki Hausawa of Sango-Ota.
