AARE ADETOLA EMMANUELKING HOSTS OGUN CP, STAKEHOLDERS AT SECURITY SUMMIT IN REMOLAND
…Calls for Stronger Community Policing, Intelligence Sharing to Tackle Emerging Security Threats
The National Golden Patron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Sir Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, KOF, has called for stronger collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, traditional institutions, community leaders and members of the public to effectively tackle emerging security challenges across Ogun State and Nigeria.
The summit provided an avenue for stakeholders to deliberate on emerging security threats and explore practical strategies for strengthening community policing, intelligence gathering and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
Speaking at the event, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking emphasised that security remains a collective responsibility and should not be left to the Police alone. He urged citizens and community stakeholders to actively support security agencies by providing credible and timely information capable of preventing crimes and protecting lives and property.
According to him, “Security is far too important to be left to the Police alone. Every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding our communities. This is the vision upon which the PCRC was founded.”
He further described the PCRC slogan, “PCRC... Peace to the Nation,” as a call to collective responsibility, stressing that intelligence sharing, mutual trust and effective community engagement remain critical to achieving sustainable peace.
The National Golden Patron also commended the Inspector-General of Police for promoting community policing across the country, while praising the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olubode Ojajuni, for his professionalism and commitment to engaging communities and other stakeholders in the fight against crime.
He urged stakeholders to remain vigilant and work closely with the Police to address security threats including kidnapping, cultism, ritual killings, illegal arms trafficking, cybercrime and other forms of criminality.
The summit featured extensive interactive sessions involving traditional rulers, community leaders, security professionals and other stakeholders. Discussions focused on intelligence gathering, crime prevention, community policing, emerging security concerns and strategies for restoring and sustaining public confidence in law enforcement.
Participants reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration among the Nigeria Police Force, PCRC, traditional institutions, other security agencies and members of the public in preventing crime and maintaining peace.
The summit was attended by members of the PCRC National and Ogun State leadership, senior police officers, traditional rulers, representatives of security agencies, community leaders and other stakeholders.
The event ended with a renewed commitment by participants to deepen community-police relations, strengthen intelligence-sharing mechanisms and support initiatives aimed at building safer and more secure communities across Ogun State and Nigeria.
