DSP Afolayan Gbenga Assumes Duty as Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer

The Zone 2 Police Headquarters, Lagos, has announced the assumption of duty of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Afolayan Gbenga as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, following the recent posting and deployment of Police Public Relations Officers by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, TMnews report
DSP Afolayan Gbenga, an indigene of Ijero Ekiti Local Government Area of Ekiti State, enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 20 December 2018 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) under Regular Course 1. He received his professional training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mathematics.
The new PPRO has undergone key operational and leadership trainings, including a Combat Operations Course at the Police Mobile Force Training School, Ila-Orangun, Osun State and the Operational Leadership and Command Course (OLCC) at the Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State.
DSP Afolayan Gbenga has served in various capacities across the Nigeria Police Force, including postings at Enuowa Division, Fanibi Division, CP Monitoring Unit and as Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, all within the Ondo State Command. He also served as Personal Assistant to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police at Zone 17 Headquarters, as well as to the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command. Until his recent deployment, he was attached to the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos.
With vast experience in administration, operations, investigations, and police public relations, DSP Afolayan Gbenga has pledged to strengthen transparent, credible and trust-based communication between the police and the public. He also reaffirmed his commitment to building a progressive partnership with the media and communities across Lagos and Ogun States through professional, result-driven engagement.
The Zone 2 Police Command has called on members of the public, media practitioners, and other stakeholders to extend their support and cooperation to the new Police Public Relations Officer as he assumes office and discharges his responsibilities.
