Breaking News: Alaafin of Oyo to Confer Okanlomo of Yorubaland Title on Seyi Tinubu
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has concluded arrangements to install Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland.
According to information obtained by TMnews Magazine, the installation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 21 December 2025, in Oyo town, Oyo State.
The ceremony will also feature the conferment of the traditional title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland on former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari.
This event marks the first set of traditional titles to be awarded by Oba Owoade since his emergence as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo in April 2025, a development considered significant within the traditional institution.
Seyi Tinubu has, in recent years, gained public attention for his involvement in youth engagement, entrepreneurship support and social development initiatives. His selection for the traditional honour comes shortly after he was recognized for excellence and leadership at the 12th Annual TMnews Summit and Awards 2025, further underscoring his growing influence in national development conversations.
The installation ceremony is expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, cultural stakeholders and dignitaries from across the country, highlighting the enduring role of traditional institutions in promoting unity and cultural heritage.
