Pastor Adeboye Urges Tinubu to Act Decisively on Insecurity, Seek Diplomatic Grace from Trump

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address Nigeria’s security crisis with firmness, speed and strategic diplomacy.

Adeboye made the appeal while speaking after the November Holy Ghost Service of the church, themed “The Eve of Glory.”

According to the cleric, Nigeria must no longer tolerate the continuous loss of innocent lives to terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes. He urged President Tinubu to give all security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorist groups across the country or face dismissal.

Adeboye noted that he once gave similar counsel during the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, recalling that initial progress was made but later abandoned, allowing insecurity to resurge.

He further advised the Federal Government to expose and prosecute financiers of terrorism, stressing that no sponsor should be shielded regardless of social status or political influence.

The respected religious leader also reacted to widely discussed concerns reportedly raised by United States President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria’s security and political future. Adeboye urged President Tinubu to open diplomatic channels with the U.S. and request a 100-day grace period before any international intervention or policy action.

According to him, such a window should be used as a national emergency period to decisively “wipe out terrorism once and for all.”

“In my quiet way, I have related with presidents since this trouble began. You can advise a Commander-in-Chief, but you cannot command him,” Adeboye said.

“If I were to advise, I would say: move quickly, move wisely, and move diplomatically. Appeal to the President of America to delay any action for about 100 days. Then return home and give service chiefs 90 days to defeat these terrorists or step aside.”

Adeboye warned that if the U.S. launches an attack, other global powers may criticize the move but will likely not come to Nigeria’s defense.

“This is not a time for politics, religion, or arguments. It is about saving lives. Innocent people are dying daily,” he said.
