The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected armed robber and kidnapper after operatives discovered a fabricated Beretta pistol concealed inside a loaf of bread.
According to police sources, Chibuike’s suspicious behaviour drew the attention of the operatives, prompting a thorough search. The officers subsequently uncovered the concealed firearm inside the bread. He was immediately taken into custody, while the weapon was secured as an exhibit.
The police say further investigations are ongoing to determine the suspect’s possible links to recent armed robbery and kidnapping cases in Asaba and surrounding communities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi commended the RRS team for what he described as vigilance and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained, intelligence-led policing aimed at flushing out criminal elements across the state.
CP Abaniwonda urged residents to remain security-conscious and provide useful information that may assist ongoing policing efforts, assuring the public that such reports will be treated with confidentiality.
