CITISIDE COMMISSIONS CONSTITUENCY PROJECTS, SEEKS LIFT OF 20KM PETROL RESTRICTION, PUSHES FOR IPOKIA–BADAGRY LINK BRIDGE AND POLYTECHNIC TAKE-OFF
The Honourable Member representing Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Otunba (Hon.) Bisi Oyedele, popularly known as Citiside has called on the Federal Government to lift the 20-kilometre petroleum product supply restriction imposed on border communities. He described the policy as outdated and harmful to the economic survival of residents in Ogun West.Citiside made the appeal during the commissioning of a series of constituency projects across Ipokia Local Government. The projects include the renovation and remodeling of the Primary Health Centre, Iporan; construction of a block of three classrooms each at IPLG Primary School, Ijofin and IPLG Primary School, Ojuroko, Idiroko; as well as the provision of four motorized boreholes in Ihunbo, Vatipa, Ibatefin and Oniro-Agude.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, other members of the Assembly, political leaders, royal fathers and community stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Citiside said the petroleum restriction policy, introduced to curb smuggling, has instead subjected law-abiding citizens to undue hardship. “This 20km petroleum restriction has outlived its usefulness. Rather than curbing smuggling, it has inflicted suffering on innocent residents who depend on fuel for transport, business, and domestic use. I call on the Federal Government to lift this policy and give relief to our people,” he stated.
The lawmaker also stressed the importance of the proposed Ipokia and Badagry Link Bridge, describing it as a critical infrastructure that would stimulate trade, tourism and regional economic integration. “The Ipokia-Badagry Link Bridge is an economic lifeline that will open our communities to commercial and industrial opportunities across Ogun, Lagos and West Africa. Its development must be prioritized in the interest of balanced growth,” he added
Citiside further renewed his advocacy for the immediate take-off of the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia, describing it as a justice and opportunity project for the youth of Ogun West. “I remain committed to the realization of the Ipokia Polytechnic. I am confident that Governor Dapo Abiodun will ensure its take-off as part of his enduring legacy,” he said.
He commended Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his supportive leadership and also appreciated Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) for his consistent contributions to the development of Ogun West.
In separate goodwill messages, royal fathers and community stakeholders praised Citiside for his accessibility, humility and visible impact, describing him as a representative who has restored confidence and pride to Ipokia land.
The event was well attended by party leaders, youth groups, and residents who expressed satisfaction with the lawmaker’s achievements and pledged continued support for his representation.
