OGUN LG SERVICE COMMISSION VISITS IPOKIA COUNCIL, CHARGES ON IMPROVED ADMINISTRATIVE SYNERGY

The Ogun State Local Government Service Commission has paid a working visit to Ipokia Local Government, where it held strategic engagements with political office holders, management staff and the entire workforce of the council.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Commissioners, Directors and a member of the Commission, Hon. Azeez Oshunbiyi Olatunde.

The visit featured a series of tripartite meetings aimed at enhancing coordination between the political and administrative arms of the local government.

In her address to the political functionaries, Barrister Onabanjo stressed the need for a clear communication channel in governance. She stated that directives ought to proceed from the Chairman to the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) before reaching Heads of Departments (HODs), saying the laid-down procedure ensures smooth administration and eliminates unnecessary conflict.

During an interactive session with the HOLGA and HODs, the HOLGA, Mr. Senapon Emmanuel Pogbe, commended the cordial relationship between the council’s political leadership and workforce. He also applauded the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, for strengthening the council’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through transparent and innovative measures.

Addressing the entire staff of the council in the final phase of the visit, the Commission Chairman appreciated their discipline and dedication. She noted that the state government under Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, remains committed to the welfare of local government workers, adding that the administration has sustained regular payment of salaries.

Responding, the Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, reiterated his commitment to staff welfare, disclosing that his administration has commenced clearing outstanding staff claims and would continue to prioritise motivation and conducive work conditions.

He commended Barrister Onabanjo for her exemplary leadership and ongoing reforms in the local government service, while also expressing appreciation to Governor Abiodun for his continued support to grassroots development and effective local governance.

The visit was widely described as fruitful, fostering improved communication, strengthening teamwork and reaffirming commitment to efficient service delivery at the grassroots levels
