Ondo CP Adebowale Lawal’s Swift Policing Strategy Leads to Recovery of Stolen Vehicles in Akure and Owo

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips has again demonstrated effective command leadership as police operatives recovered two stolen vehicles in separate coordinated operations in Akure and Owo.

The first recovery took place on October 29, 2025, when a Toyota Camry (Big Daddy), ash in colour and registered as KJA 755 SG, was found abandoned near the Police Secondary School, Alagbaka, along Ado Road, Akure. The vehicle was reported to the Police by a resident identified as Chief Kayode, prompting officers from the ‘A’ Division to swiftly mobilize to the scene. On inspection, detectives discovered documents bearing the name Balogun Busayo, a mobile phone, and a GTBank ATM card in the vehicle. Investigations are ongoing to determine ownership and uncover the circumstances surrounding the abandonment.

In a related development, officers from the ‘B’ Division, Owo, recovered a black Lexus RX 300 SUV with registration number MMA 754 AC after responding to a distress call around 4:30am on November 2, 2025. The vehicle had been stolen from the Tisco Building area of Owo, but a swift pursuit by Police operatives forced the suspects to abandon the vehicle along the Owo and Akure Road near Ogbese before escaping into nearby bushes.

Both vehicles are currently in police custody, while efforts to trace and apprehend the suspects continue.

Speaking on the recoveries, CP Adebowale Lawal commended the officers involved for their professionalism, tactical responsiveness, and commitment to duty. He noted that the latest achievements reflect the improved operational efficiency and enhanced public safety initiatives being driven under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM.

The Commissioner assured residents that the Command remains unrelenting in its efforts to safeguard lives and property across Ondo State. He urged members of the public to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and proactive in reporting suspicious movements to the Police.

Residents who have recently lost vehicles are encouraged to visit the nearest Police station with proof of ownership for verification and possible recovery.
