Following protest by residents of Sagamu, condemning the killing of Remo Star Football Club player, Kazeem Tiamiyu, the people have been urged to be law abiding, eschew violence and not allow hoodlums take advantage of their peaceful demonstration to cause mayhem in the area.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun made the appeal in Sagamu, when he visited the parents of the deceased, saying the future of the State would be secured when people go about their businesses in a lawful manner.

"Let us continue to preach peace, be law-abiding and discourage those that want to take advantage of the situation to commit crimes", he said.

Prince Abiodun who attributed the criminal activities in the town to its large population and being a border town, added that the State Government had allotted more security logistics to law enforcement agencies, while additional police division had been established in the town.

While commiserating with the parents of the deceased for losing a promising star, the Governor assured that government would investigate and get to the root of the matter, as the culprits, who have been apprehended, would be made to face the wrath of the law and serve as deterrent to others.

"The incident caused us a lot of pain and this is why we are here to sympathise with you. I want to assure you that since it happened, we have left no stone unturned and we are closely monitoring the situation", he said.

Also speaking, the Inspector General of Police, represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of South West, Mr. Peter Ogunyanwo, disclosed that satellite Zonal Investigation Squad had been dismantled and their offices handed over to the State Police Command.

The DIG said Kazeem’s death would prompt the Police Force to carry out more reforms on the squad, insisting that the officers, who have since been arrested, were on illegal duty and did not obtain clearance from police formation in Sagamu before the operation, pledging that full investigation would be done to bring those involved to justice.

The mother of the deceased, Mrs. Selimot Tiamiyu, while narrating the incident that led to her son's death, said he was neither a robber nor a fraudster, but a young man, who made a living playing football.

Receiving the Governor, who was also at the Akarigbo’s Palace to commiserate with him, the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, called for more police divisions to cope with the size of the town, appreciating the State Government for its efforts at restoring peace since the incident happened.
