Residents Demand Probe Over Alleged Same-Sex Scandal
Residents of a community in Abeokuta, Ogun State, have called for a thorough police investigation into allegations of same-sex conduct involving two females identified as Oluwatosin Kemi Ayeola and Ariyibi Ayomikun Adunni
Sources familiar with the investigation alleged that one of the females, identified as Ariyibi Ayomikun Adunni has been arrested and is assisting investigators, while the second suspect, Oluwatosin Kemi Ayeola, is reportedly at large.
Residents who spoke on condition of anonymity urged law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and ensure that due process is followed.
Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Zone 2 Police Headquarters regarding the status of the investigation were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Under Nigeria's Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, certain same-sex relationships and related activities are criminal offences, with penalties prescribed by law. However, allegations remain subject to investigation and any suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
