PCRC Denies Election Manipulation, Says Zone 13 Poll Postponement Was Administrative
The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has dismissed claims that the postponement of the Zone 13 PCRC election was due to manipulation of the electoral process, describing the allegations as false and misleading.
According to the statement, the postponement was made in good faith to ensure that all stakeholders have the opportunity to participate fully in a transparent, peaceful and credible election when a new date is announced.
The committee stressed that at no time was the integrity of the electoral process compromised, urging members of the PCRC and the public to disregard reports alleging interference or manipulation.
The statement reaffirmed that the PCRC leadership, under the National Chairman, remains committed to the principles of fairness, transparency, inclusiveness and due process in the conduct of its affairs.
It also assured members that a new date for the Zone 13 election would be communicated through official channels after the conclusion of the scheduled zonal activities.
The Anambra State PCRC appealed to members and stakeholders to remain calm and continue supporting the committee's mission of strengthening the partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the public in advancing community policing and improving public safety.
Observers say the clarification underscores the PCRC leadership's determination to preserve the credibility of its internal democratic processes while ensuring that all members are given equal opportunities to participate in the forthcoming election.
