EXCLUSION ROW: Egba/Egbado Baales Protest Omission from Ado-Odo Ota Summit, Seek Gov. Abiodun’s Intervention
Traditional rulers under the Egba/Egbado Council of Baales in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area have raised strong concerns over what they describe as persistent marginalization by the local council, despite commending the council chairman for organizing the ongoing summit.
The monarchs, however, expressed displeasure over their exclusion from the three-day Strategic Retreat and Summit for Baales, describing it as the latest in a series of actions sidelining them from key governance processes in the area.
Speaking with journalists, the Chairman of the Egba/Egbado Council of Baales, Shokunbi Olawale Oyero, lamented that the council has consistently shut them out of the traditional council structure and developmental engagements within the local government.
Oyero further decried the lack of visible developmental projects in their communities, noting that their domains have not benefited from democratic dividends over time.
He called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to urgently intervene, urging the state government to ensure inclusiveness and fairness in the affairs of the local government.
According to him, “This issue of always leaving us out in the scheme of things in the local government is becoming unbearable. We are constantly neglected. It is surprising that we were not invited to the summit at all.
“We only got to know about the summit through social media. This is clear marginalization. Why is the local government consistently blocking us? There are no developmental projects in our domains. We appeal to Governor Dapo Abiodun, who is known for inclusiveness, to intervene in this matter,” he stated.
