The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its commitment to strengthening community policing as the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu psc+ received a delegation from the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) on a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation, led by the PCRC National Chairman, Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, included members of the committee’s National Executive Committee and representatives from various regional commands.
Speaking during the visit, Olaniyan congratulated the IGP on his appointment and reaffirmed the PCRC’s loyalty and continued support for the police. He also commended Disu for recognising the committee’s strategic contributions to grassroots intelligence and national security.
In his response, Disu expressed appreciation for the PCRC’s sustained partnership with the Force, assuring the delegation of continued collaboration. He, however, urged the committee’s leadership to ensure strict monitoring of its members, stressing that PCRC identification should be used solely for legitimate purposes, particularly in intelligence gathering.
The IGP further charged members to uphold high standards of conduct, noting that their actions must reflect integrity in order to sustain public trust in the partnership.
The meeting underscores ongoing efforts by the police to deepen community engagement and promote collective responsibility in tackling security challenges nationwide.
The statement was issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, on Thursday in Abuja.
