OGUN WEST: GBELEYI DECLARES FOR SENATE AS APC SIA APEX BODY ENDORSES HIS 2027 AMBITION

A major political realignment is unfolding in Ogun West as former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi, has officially declared his intention to contest the Ogun West Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections. His declaration comes with a significant boost, an endorsement from the influential SIA Apex Body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the senatorial district.
Gbeleyi, in a press statement issued on November 13, 2025, said he is seeking the mandate to deliver transformative representation anchored on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He described himself as “tested, trusted and capable,” adding that his mission is to consolidate gains already recorded while elevating the development of Ogun West.SIA APEX BODY BACKS PRESIDENT TINUBU, ENDORSES GBELEYIThe SIA Apex Body, which comprises APC leaders across the five Local Government Areas of Ogun West, held a strategic meeting in Ota on Thursday, November 13, 2025. In its communiqué, the group passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing him for a second term in 2027 and pledging massive mobilization to ensure his re-election.Significantly, the Body also formally endorsed Gbeleyi’s senatorial aspiration, describing him as a loyal party man with a strong record of public service and the capacity for effective representation. The endorsement is expected to shift political calculations within the district as the build-up to the 2027 elections intensifies.The group further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and urged eligible youths to return home and register in time.
It also applauded former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, FCA, for stepping down for President Tinubu during the APC presidential primary in 2023, describing his loyalty and selflessness as exemplary.
The Apex Body concluded by calling for unity within the APC in Ogun West, stressing the need for cohesion among leaders and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 polls.
GBELEYI OUTLINES LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES
In his declaration, Gbeleyi outlined water provision and disease prevention as top priorities. He pledged to modernize and revamp waterworks across Ogun West to reduce typhoid and other waterborne diseases.
He also committed to ensuring the commencement of academic activities at Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia, noting that the institution will boost education and stimulate economic activity in the border communities.
Gbeleyi further promised to facilitate greater Federal Government engagement in mechanized agriculture in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda with the aim of improving food production and creating jobs.
A LONG RECORD OF PUBLIC SERVICE
With over 25 years of political experience, Gbeleyi emphasized his legislative achievements, particularly his role at the 46th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference in 2000 where he moved the motion that contributed to Nigeria’s eventual debt relief.
He added that his campaign would be issue-based, people-centered, and aligned with the broader goal of securing President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
READY TO SEEK APC TICKET
Expressing gratitude to the foundational members of the APC for their support, Gbeleyi said he is prepared to formally seek the party’s senatorial ticket for Ogun West.
He assured constituents of accessible and inclusive representation, promising to serve without bias to gender, religion or political affiliation.
