By Temidayo Babalola

The Folarin Street Resident Association, Magodo (FSRAM), Phase 1, Lagos State, has unveiled a strengthened security framework aimed at safeguarding lives and property within the community This followed extensive deliberations at its Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, where residents recommitted to deeper collaboration with security agencies and more active participation in neighborhood vigilance.

The meeting commenced with an opening prayer led by Mr. Emmanuel Awakan, after which the Chairman, Mr. Akinsola Donald, welcomed residents and expressed appreciation for their continued cooperation. He reiterated that security remains a shared responsibility and urged residents to remain committed to the collective safety of the community.

Presenting the association’s security and administrative review, Mr. Uche highlighted both achievements and challenges, particularly the rising cost of providing efficient security and operational services. He emphasized the urgent need to boost revenue in order to sustain and strengthen the community’s security architecture.
Residents used the meeting to express concerns and suggest improvements to further secure the neighborhood.
One of the residents, Miss Vivian, raised the issue of uncovered blind spots around  Street, noting that some exit routes require closer monitoring. Mr. Farotede Benson addressed her concerns with clarifications on steps already being taken.
stakeholders within the community also commended the executive committee for noticeable improvements, especially in boosting street surveillance, but encouraged more robust measures. Similarly, another homeowner calls for clearer communication on the association’s collaboration with the security agencies within the locality as well as  the  vulnerability of certain exit points which was greatly  emphasized with the   need for stronger safeguards to protect children, families, and property.

After broad discussions, the residents adopted several resolutions designed to reinforce community safety and strengthen civic engagement.

Residents also approved an end-of-year Thanksgiving celebration to promote unity and social cohesion.

One of the major decisions of the AGM was the full lockdown of all exit points on Folarin Street, except where residents living near those areas contribute to the installation of CCTV cameras and the deployment of additional security personnel. This measure was adopted to tighten access control and ensure 24-hour surveillance.

The meeting concluded and report signed by Mr Akinola Donald with a renewed pledge by the association to strengthen partnerships with security agencies, enhance internal monitoring systems, and ensure that the safety and well-being of residents remain top priorities.
