Akinlade Hails Gov. Abiodun’s Leadership, Says Ogun Has Emerged Stronger After Years of Political Battles

By Temidayo Babalola

Former federal lawmaker Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade (Triple A) has praised the leadership style of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing him as a man shaped by years of political battles, setbacks and defining victories.

Akinlade, who made his remarks on Sunday, reflected on his past political contests against the governor, noting that Governor Abiodun’s resilience and ability to deploy what he called the “key instruments of political warfare, access and resources” have consistently given him the edge.

According to Akinlade, critics who predicted the collapse of Ogun State under Abiodun’s administration in 2019 have been proven wrong, as the state has recorded notable growth over the past six years. He credited the governor with strengthening its economic base, improving governance and positioning Ogun as one of the most stable and productive states in the country.

He highlighted several major achievements of the administration, including infrastructural expansion, human capital development initiatives and the successful delivery of what he described as one of the most advanced agro-airports in the subregion. Akinlade also noted Abiodun’s emergence as Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum as evidence of his rising national influence.

Describing the governor as a leader “driven not by theatrics but by clear determination,” Akinlade said Abiodun’s approach to leadership reflects strategic discipline and what he referred to as “divine grace.”

The former governorship candidate added that he and his political associates had resolved to align firmly with the governor, saying strategic choices are essential in politics.

Akinlade signed off his statement with a popular admonition, noting that “a word is enough for the wise.”
