Ikolaje-Idiroko to Host Grand Tribute, Farewell Ceremony for Late HRM Oba John Olakunle Ojo JP (Afiditi II)

Ikolaje-Idiroko Kingdom is set to honor the late His Royal Majesty Oba John Olakunle Ojo JP (Afiditi II) with a four-day Tribute and Farewell Ceremony, scheduled from November 12 to 15, 2025. This significant event aims to celebrate the life and legacy of a monarch who profoundly impacted the cultural, social, and economic landscape of the Nigeria–Benin border region, TMnews report 

The ceremony, themed 'Honouring the Ancient Crown: Its Sacred Place in Yoruba Culture and Heritage' (Bìbú ọ̀lá fun Adé Iṣẹ̀mbáyé: Ipò Adé Iṣẹ̀mbáyé ninu àṣà àti ìṣé ilẹ̀ Yoruba), will feature a series of activities, including traditional rites, royal tributes, cultural performances, and a documentary highlighting Oba Ojo's life and achievements. Additional programming will encompass memorial lectures, special prayer sessions, and the presentation of Legacy Awards.


Oba John Olakunle Ojo JP, known for his wisdom, humility, and diplomatic leadership, served as a symbol of peace and unity throughout his reign. His efforts significantly strengthened cross-border relations and championed traditional leadership within the framework of modern governance.

The event is expected to draw dignitaries from Nigeria and neighboring countries, including traditional rulers, government officials, religious leaders, cultural ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic community.
