In a significant step towards enhancing governance and party cohesion, the Ondo State Governor's Advisory Council (GAC) convened its inaugural meeting on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Akure, hosted by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

The closed-door meeting, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, focused on critical issues affecting the state's development under Governor Aiyedatiwa and the party's strategy leading up to the 2027 general elections. This gathering follows closely on the heels of a Caucus meeting convened by the Governor and precedes a broader stakeholders meeting within the party.
After the session, Chief Akinyelure expressed optimism about the discussions, emphasizing the importance of reinforcing ties between the government and the party. "The Governor is very happy about the meeting. Our discussions centered on the growth of the party and the success of the government led by Mr. Governor. We aim to bridge the gap to ensure both the party and government flourish," he stated.
Pastor Bankole Oluwajana, a former APC National Vice Chairman (Southwest), praised the Governor for establishing the GAC and highlighted the value of the closed-door format, which facilitated open dialogue. "This council allows us to make suggestions as party elders. The Governor’s inclusive approach fosters unity among us," Oluwajana remarked.
Former Senator Prof. Ajayi Boroffice underscored the advisory role of the council, noting the importance of unity within the party. He commended the Governor for maintaining financial stability, paying salaries, and addressing historical debts during his administration. "The Advisory Council is here to advise, not to dictate. The Governor has the authority to make decisions that benefit the state and its citizens," he affirmed.
Other attendees, including Chief Jamiu Ekungba and Hon. Awodeyi Akinsehinwa Apata, echoed their support for the GAC meeting, emphasizing its potential to strengthen the party ahead of upcoming elections.
In concluding remarks, Hon. Kekemeke articulated the meeting's objectives, highlighting a commitment to stabilizing both the government and the party. He reiterated the council's support for the Governor's leadership and the importance of inclusive decision-making within the party framework.
The meeting saw participation from notable leaders, including former Deputy Governor Alhaji Ali Olanusi, General Funso Oyenehin (rtd), and Ambassador Sola Iji, among others.
