IGP Charges Officers to Embrace Innovative Approaches to Policing as 12 AIGs, 16 CPs Decorated with new Ranks

In a significant event held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, Ph.D., NPM, along with various dignitaries, decorated newly promoted senior police officers with their new ranks, amidst cheers from family, friends, and professional colleagues.
A total of 12 Commissioners of Police (CPs) were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG), while 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCs) were promoted to the substantive rank of CP. This promotion follows the recent approval by the Police Service Commission, initiated by the IGP, and continues the innovative welfare packages implemented under his leadership, which have resulted in the highest number of promotions in the Force within a remarkably short period.

Among the newly decorated AIGs are notable figures such as Emmanuel Adegbola Aina, Enyinnaya Adiogu, Ronke Nurat Okunade, and Johnson Oluwole Adenola, among others. The list of newly promoted CPs includes Sheik Mohammed Danko, Abiola Reuben Olutunde, and Charles Dike, to name a few.

The ceremony was graced by dignitaries including Senator Oyewunmi Olalere, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Right Honourable Obi Aguoda from the House of Representatives, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and Femi Mohammed Sheidu, the Executive Secretary of the Police Trust Fund, along with members of the Force Management Team, both serving and retired senior police officers, and families of the promoted officers.

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, the Inspector-General urged them to embrace innovative approaches to policing, focus on gaining public trust, and strengthen collaborations with the communities they serve, all while respecting the rights of citizens.

This event marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare and operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Police Force.
