OTA PARAPO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REITERATES EFFORT TO BOOST BUSINESSES
The Ota Parapo Chamber Of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OPCCIMA) has reiterated her efforts to implify business sustainability of members, TMnews report.
This was revealed by the President of Ota Parapo Chamber Of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Dr. Kayode Bowale FCA during the Press Conference hosted by the agency to herald the formal Inauguration of the Chamber with the theme 'Enhancing Business Sustainability In a Turbulent Environment', at the Chamber's Secretariat in Ota.
According to him "OPCCIMA was registered as a non-profit, non–governmental organisation with the aim of promoting the interests of members as well as to enhance business activities in Ota and its environ in particular and Ogun State in general. OPCCIMA is one of the city chambers under the umbrella of Nigerian Association of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA)- an affiliate of International Chamber of Commerce and World Chamber Federation".
Dr. Kayode said the purpose is to promote Economic and Commercial activities within Ota and surrounding Communities adding that the boarder closure by the Federal Government is to protect the Local Manufacturers and promote the Industrial growth, also taking cognizance of the rate of criminality along the Boarder.
"Our purpose (Reason for existence Providing overall direction) OPCCIMA will promote economic and commercial activities within the communities; empower members and entrepreneurs in Ota and its environ through joint workshop and training programmes with government agencies such as SMEDAN, Nigeria Shippers council ; Nigeria Export and Promotion Agencies, Raw Materials and Research Council and FIIRO, FIRS etc. Identify the critical components of ease of doing business and work with relevant agencies of government and community leaders in the area of policy formulation; make inputs to government policies through advocacy efforts; be the voice of business community to champion better business environment; contribute to the overall socio-economic stability of the community; and contribute in promoting the nation’s private enterprise system for global competiveness" he added
He further said Government should endeavor to go extra miles in subsidising some goods to make cost of living comfortable for the people, saying it's expedient to work with relevant Agencies of Government and Community Leaders in the area of Policy Formulation through Advocacy efforts.
Highlighting Activities So far, he added that "OPCCIMA has partnered with Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NIBRRI) in 2023 by organizing training programme for members and non-members in red block-making venture; paid familiarszation and courtesy visits to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR and the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof) Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege. Others include Ado-Odo Ota Local government, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Incubation Centre,and Ogun State Agricultural Multipurpose Cooperative Agency(OSAMCA), C-Way Nig. Ltd among others; done Full registration and representation in NACCIMA; Assisted members to secure grants from Ogun State and Federal government agencies for expansion of their businesses; Started making efforts to laisse with foreign embassies to create veritable platform for Trade Mission, bilateral relations and networks; Started preparation towards International Trade Fair through establishment of International Trade Fair Complex centre with the support of Olota of Ota. Started Talk show sessions to enable members to promote their products, and as fora for networks. Started partnership with research centres and tertiary institutions with the view to establish Ota Innovation Hub, to promote creativity and high quality locally made goods and services".
Finally, he appealed to the Government for pragmatic approach to put an end to the security challenges bedeviling the country adding that Government should provide conducive atmosphere of sincerity and transparency in the operations of Government and Policy implementation of the leaders.
