No fewer than 135 offenders have been convicted by a Mobile Court, for violating lockdown order in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Reading the charge,  the Court Registrar, Mr. Okayinka Adeboye, said the offenders conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by deliberately ‘’failing to comply with the federal and state government’s lockdown order’’, which they all pleaded guilty and prayed the court to temper justice with mercy.

While delivering judgment, Magistrate Adebakin Soyoye, sitting at the mobile court, cautioned and discharged 11 out of the 135 offenders, while 124 were asked to pay a fine of N1, 000 or render one hour community service.

Speaking with journalists in an interview, shortly after the judgment, the Head of Operation, Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Ogun State, Mr. Taofeek Babalola, lamented the rate at which people violated the stay at home order, enjoining transport operators and residents to co-operate with the government by complying to all  directives, so as to collectively stop the spread of covid-19 in the State.

After the judgment, 73 paid fine and 51 performed community service.
