-Board applauds facility upgrades, serene environment, and commitment to technical education

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has commended Harvarde College of Science, Business and Management Studies, Obada, Abeokuta, Ogun State, for its steady infrastructural and academic improvements.

A delegation from the board, led by Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, Director of Polytechnic and Allied Programs, visited the institution on Monday, September 15, 2025, for a Digital Accreditation and Resource Inspection Verification Exercise.

The programs reviewed for accreditation included Law, Film and Multimedia Production, Journalism and Media Studies, Network and Cloud Computing, Software and Web Development, Accountancy, Business Administration, and Institutional Administration.

Members of the verification team were Mr. Gbenga Abejide (representing NBTE Southwest Zonal Director, Mr. Ayo Aroge), Dr. John Onyebuchi, Mr. Abdullahi Dogonyaro, and Prince Olanrewaju Nurudeen of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

In his welcome address, the Proprietor and Rector of Harvarde College, Dr. Adebayo Oluwatosin, stressed the importance of continuous infrastructural upgrades in Nigerian tertiary institutions. He urged government support for private investors in education, noting that technical education remains crucial for producing innovative, self-reliant graduates capable of tackling unemployment.

After the inspection, Dr. Umar commended the college’s serene environment and significant facility upgrades, highlighting the medical centre as a potential community service hub. She also pointed out NBTE’s digital transformation efforts, which are strengthening TVET institutions through partnerships with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and Cisco Academy.

Established in 1977 by Act No. 9, NBTE continues to regulate and promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across Nigeria.
