Police Arrest Bridge Vandal, Recover 20 Road Studs in Lagos
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested an 18-year-old suspected vandal, Dogara John, for allegedly tampering with road safety installations on the Third Mainland Bridge.
According to the police, a search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of twenty of the vandalised reflective studs in his possession. The authorities emphasized that the road studs are critical safety features designed to help drivers maintain proper lane discipline and reduce the risk of accidents on one of Lagos’ busiest routes.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani, reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for vandalism and destruction of public infrastructure.
He warned that such acts pose serious risks to public safety and undermine efforts to maintain order across the state.
The Commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, especially around public facilities, to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.
