Mr Gabby Releases 2026 Debut Single “Bolanle,” A Cultural Statement Rooted in Yoruba Heritage

Mr Gabby, the Germany-based Afrobeats creator and long-time cultural organiser, has released his first single of 2026, Bolanle, marking a new chapter in a career shaped by decades of Afro-music advocacy across Europe.

The single’s title, Bolanle, is derived from a widely recognised Yoruba expression meaning “born with wealth.” The word has travelled far beyond its linguistic roots, becoming one of the most exported Yoruba expressions globally embraced across cultures for its affirmation of inherent value and dignity. In this context, Bolanle functions less as a metaphor of material wealth and more as a statement of cultural inheritance.
Born Gabriel Unaague and professionally known as Mr Gabby, the artist has been a visible force in the development of Afrobeats communities in Europe for over two decades. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers behind Afro-music events in Italy and Germany, helping to establish platforms at a time when African sounds remained largely peripheral to mainstream European nightlife and festival circuits.

Mr Gabby’s latest release follows his 2024 EP Pain & Gains, a project that documented personal endurance and collective resilience. With Bolanle, he returns in 2026 not only with new music but with a renewed focus on cultural responsibility and community consciousness.

Released under Gabby Records, the Germany-based Afro record label owned by the artist, Bolanle, reflects Mr Gabby’s continued commitment to nurturing Afrobeats communities in Europe. In a statement issued to Azure Voice Publishing Firm, he emphasised that his work is guided by a responsibility to uplift, educate, and create space for emerging African artists navigating the European landscape.

Reflecting on his own journey, Mr Gabby noted that his life in Europe did not begin with privilege. He spoke candidly about witnessing the struggles of many Africans, particularly asylum seekers and how those experiences shaped his worldview. According to him, these realities reveal deeper systemic challenges that often leave African migrants feeling confined by circumstance rather than opportunity.

Through his lyrics, Mr Gabby says he intends to continue delivering messages of wisdom, resilience, and encouragement, particularly to Africans living abroad. He maintains that music remains one of the most effective tools for cultural affirmation and psychological strength, especially within diasporic communities.

“Bolanle is a testament to our rich culture,” Mr Gabby explains. “It is a reminder to every African that whether you are rich or poor, living in a mansion or a mud house, you are born wealthy. Our heritage is wealth, and Africans will continue to shine through.”

Beyond the release, Mr Gabby also hinted at plans for an upcoming African tour, with the intention of visiting multiple countries across the continent. He explained that the tour will focus on underserved and marginalised communities, particularly those facing infrastructural and social challenges, with an emphasis on safety, environmental awareness, and youth well-being.

He further commended the growing consciousness among African communities, pointing to grassroots initiatives and organised engagement programs, such as the Ratels community as signs that Africans are increasingly investing in sustainable environments and long-term development.
Bolanle is now available on major digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Audiomack and other streaming websites. Follow Mr Gabby on all social media @mrgabbtv
