Delta State Police Command Activates Mobile Courts, Begins Crackdown on Traffic Offenders

-Warns reckless drivers, fake number plate users, others to face instant prosecution

The Delta State Police Command has announced an immediate and intensified enforcement of traffic regulations across Delta State, warning that violators will be arrested and prosecuted through newly operational mobile courts.

The move follows confirmation by the Delta State Judiciary, acting through the Office of the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Justice, Delta State, on behalf of the Chief Judge, Justice T.O. Diai, that designated Mobile Courts are now fully operational in various jurisdictions across the state.

Police authorities said the courts have the legal backing to summarily try traffic offenders and ensure swift enforcement of traffic laws.

Under the renewed enforcement drive, police patrols and surveillance will be intensified across major cities including Asaba, Warri, Effurun, Sapele, Ughelli, Agbor, and other key locations.

Offences targeted include reckless driving, driving against traffic, use of unauthorized or fake number plates, operating vehicles without registration numbers, illegal use of sirens and revolving lights, road obstruction, and other violations.

The Command stressed that offenders would face immediate arrest and prosecution before the Mobile Courts.
Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to enforcing traffic discipline, protecting lives and property, and maintaining law and order.

Police spokesperson, Edafe Bright, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, urged residents to comply fully with traffic regulations, warning that the Command would not tolerate impunity.

He emphasized that the enforcement is not intended to punish residents but to restore sanity on the roads and improve public safety.

“Law-abiding citizens have nothing to fear. However, violators should be prepared to face the full weight of the law,” the statement said.

The Command assured residents of its continued resolve to uphold the rule of law and ensure safer roads across the state.
