Konifewo Lions Club Restores Sight to Hundreds in Free Eye Care Outreach

Residents of Konifewo and neighbouring communities trooped out in large numbers on Saturday as the Lions Club of Konifewo organised a free eye screening and eyeglasses outreach, reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian service, TMnews report.The programme, carried out as part of the club’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), offered free eye examinations and prescription eyeglasses to community members who otherwise have limited access to basic eye care services. Beneficiaries were attended to by professionals as they patiently queued for screening and fitting of suitable eyeglasses.No fewer than 250 residents benefited from the outreach, cutting across different age groups, from young adults to the elderly. Many beneficiaries described the initiative as life-changing, noting that the restoration of clear vision would significantly improve their daily activities and overall quality of life.The Baale of Konifewo, accompanied by other community leaders, commended the Lions Club for its selfless service and sustained concern for the welfare of the people. He described the outreach as timely and impactful, stressing that good vision remains critical to productivity, safety and general wellbeing.Speaking at the event, the President of the Konifewo Lions Club, Lion Kehinde Oke, alongside the Charter President, Lion Solomon Biyi Bankole, expressed gratitude to residents for the impressive turnout. They encouraged community members to continue taking advantage of such initiatives, assuring them of the club’s resolve to sustain projects that address pressing community needs.The outreach, they noted, reflects the Lions Club’s global motto, “We Serve,” and further reinforces the Konifewo Lions Club’s role in community development and social welfare.
The event ended on a joyful note, with beneficiaries expressing appreciation as they left with improved vision and renewed hope, marking the programme as a memorable and impactful intervention.
