APC Intervention Restores Peace as Ado-Odo/Ota Chairman Reinstated After Brief Suspension
Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government has regained stability following the swift reversal of the suspension earlier placed on the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA by the Legislative Council. The suspension, which lasted just a day, was lifted after key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) intervened to restore peace and ensure continued governance.
The disagreement began on October 30, 2025, when the Legislative Council accused the Chairman of failing to present income and expenditure reports despite repeated requests. However, the Chairman has now complied with the Council’s resolutions, including the submission of the detailed financial report, thus paving the way for renewed cooperation between both arms of government.
The intervention of prominent APC stakeholders was central to resolving the dispute. Those who played significant roles include the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Member of the House of Representatives for Ado-Odo/Ota, Hon. Tunji Akinosi; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sessan Fagbayi; Chief Aiyedogbon; Hon. Lai Taiwo; Hon. Kazeem Salako and the APC Local Government Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Akeran.
Leader of the House, Hon. Gbadamosi Mutairu Akanji, ACA, confirmed that the suspension was lifted upon the Chairman’s compliance. He emphasized that the decision was taken in the broader interest of peace, development and public confidence in local governance.
“This decision is taken in the overall interest of peace, stability, and progress in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government,” he noted. “With renewed cooperation, we can deliver the dividends of democracy and restore trust in grassroots leadership.”
The quick reversal of the suspension also followed strong public criticism, with many residents describing the initial action as hasty and politically motivated. While the Chairman resumes his duties, expectations are high for strengthened collaboration and improved service delivery.
This resolution marks a win for dialogue, accountability and unity signaling a forward looking path for good governance and development in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government.
