NDLEA Intercepts Saudi, UK-Bound Cocaine in Lipsticks, Property Title Documents
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant arrests and seizures in its ongoing war against drug trafficking. Here are the key highlights:1. Cocaine Seizures: On July 3, 2025, NDLEA operatives intercepted consignments of cocaine hidden in lipsticks and property documents at a courier service in Lagos. A total of 420 grams of cocaine concealed in 84 lipsticks was destined for the UK, while 280 grams was found in a property title document being sent to Saudi Arabia.2. Arrest of Drug Kingpin: Ajetsibo Emami, known as 'Warri Kinsman,' was arrested on June 28 in Ikeja Lagos. His drug trafficking network was dismantled over three days, resulting in the seizure of 414.2 kg of cannabis (referred to as Canadian Loud) packed in 24 jumbo bags.
3. Family Drug Ring: A family operating a drug distribution network in Lagos was apprehended. Ajah and Rosemary Uchenna were initially arrested with 277.5 kg of cannabis on June 13. Following further investigation, their daughters and a family friend were also detained after another raid revealed an additional 231 kg of the same substance.
4. International Drug Smuggling: On July 2, Aburemi Hysent was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport for smuggling 7,660 tramadol pills concealed in food items meant for delivery to Italy. He was reportedly offered €800 for the shipment.
5. Counterfeit Travelers' Cheques: On July 4, NDLEA agents intercepted 52 travelers' cheques worth approximately 17.7 million Australian dollars concealed in children's books at the Lagos airport. A freight agent was arrested in connection with this case.
6. Further Seizures and Arrests: Various operations across different states led to the seizure of a total of 1,200 kg of skunk, tramadol pills, and more illicit substances. Key arrests included suspects in Borno, Osun, and Edo states, with major drug seizures documented in these regions.
7. Community Outreach: The NDLEA has continued its advocacy against drug abuse, conducting sensitization programs in schools and communities across Nigeria to raise awareness about the dangers of drug misuse.
The NDLEA has commended its teams for their effective operations and stressed the importance of balancing drug supply reduction with demand reduction efforts in combatting drug abuse in Nigeria.
