The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) warmly commends the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for its proactive initiative in establishing 24/7 emergency response centres dedicated to addressing school-related emergencies nationwide. This significant effort, spearheaded by the National Coordinator of the Schools Protection Squad (SPS), CP Abayomi Shogunle, underscores the NPF’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of students, teachers, and educational infrastructure, in alignment with the Federal Government’s Safe Schools Initiative and the Renewed Hope Agenda, TMnews report.
The establishment of these emergency centres, announced during a stakeholders’ forum in Ibadan, Oyo State, reflects the NPF’s dedication to creating secure learning environments for Nigerian students. This initiative, along with the deployment of the Schools Protection Squad, represents a crucial step in tackling security challenges such as kidnappings and violence that have disrupted education and instilled fear within communities. NANS applauds the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to ensuring that schools remain safe havens for learning and personal development.
