Nigeria Customs Advocates AI Adoption in Public Sector Communication
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is gaining recognition for its innovative approach to public communication, particularly through the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). On June 23, 2025, the service welcomed AI strategist and digital consultant Celestine Achi at their headquarters in Abuja. Achi, who authored "AI-Powered PR: The Essential Guide for Communications Leaders to Master Artificial Intelligence," was received by the National Customs Public Relations Officer, AC Abdullahi Maiwada and members of the Public Relations Unit.During the visit, Maiwada expressed appreciation for Achi's insights and the book, emphasizing the NCS's belief in using data-driven storytelling and modern technology to foster public trust. He affirmed the agency's commitment to embracing innovations that enhance communication effectiveness and integrity.
Achi praised the NCS for its impressive communication infrastructure and professionalism, noting that the agency sets a high standard for public sector communication. He highlighted the exceptional sentiment scores of 85% in PR activation and emphasized the importance of a robust media strategy in the digital age.
Achi also introduced the NCS Live PR Attribution Dashboard, an innovative analytics tool designed to track and visualize the media performance of the agency's communications since the appointment of Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi in 2023. This dashboard represents a significant leap in public communication strategy, showcasing the NCS's active role in digital transformation.
