OTA Branch NBA Chairperson Condemns Murder of Young Boy, Calls for Immediate Arrest, Trial and Justice
The Nigerian Bar Association (Ota Branch) has condemned in totality the recent murder of a young boy in Ibadan, allegedly by a police officer. The Chairperson of the Utter Bar, Chief K Ajose Mrs called for the immediate arrest, trial, and justice for the victim's family.Kaykay as foldly called also expressed concerns about police brutality and extrajudicial killings in Nigeria, suggesting that the police should use non-lethal methods to apprehend suspects.
Chief K. Ajose who recommended that firearms should be withdrawn from police officers on town patrols, further that alternative tools like plastic bullets, shock devices, teargas, and pepper spray could be used. Moreso, technology to automatically identify and penalize traffic offenders without putting lives at risk could be implemented.
Her statement further emphasizes the need for police reform and accountability in Nigeria.
