OGUN STATE AUDITOR-GENERAL’S OFFICE PROPOSES N339M IN 2021

Ogun State Auditor-General has proposed a sum of N339m, as total expenditure for the 2021 fiscal year.

The Auditor-General, Mr. Sunday Olubanjo made this known while defending the proposed budget before the House of Assembly's Finance and Appropriation Committee, at the Assembly’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Mr. Olubanjo stated that recurrent expenditure would gulp N213,853,060.90, which would cover personnel costs of N183,853,060.90, while overhead costs stand at N30,000,000,00, for salaries and wages, leave, furniture allowances, among others.

He added that N125,000,000.00 was earmarked as capital expenditure, to provide vehicle, computers, power generating sets and others, saying the proposed budget would help the agency, in fulfilling its statutory functions, by promoting accountability, prudence and provide needed support to all agencies of government, for improved development and standard of living of its citizenry.

The Auditor-General said the 2021 budget and Annual Appropriation Accounts of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were submitted within six months after the closure of the proceeding financial year, in line with financial regulations and the State budget, adding that its audit bill would be passed within a reasonable period, to facilitate independent supervision of MDAs.

Responding, Chairman of the Committee on Finance and appropriation, Hon. Kunle Sobunkanla urged the Office of the State Auditor-General to perform their duty optimally in the coming year, as their activities would assist in stabilising the State's finances
