OGSG ASSURE WORKERS ON MINIMUM WAGE IMPLEMENTATION

Ogun State Government says despite the devastating effects of COVID-19 pandemic, it will not abandon the agreement reached with the Organised Labour Unions on the implementation of the new minimum wage.
The State Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, who gave this assurance while fielding questions from journalists in Abeokuta, said government would have commenced the payment, but the resultant effects of the pandemic on the country and the State’s economy had made government re-strategise on raising finances to accommodate its implementation.
He appreciated the unflinching support of the workforce and the demonstration of high level commitment, towards the actualisation of the present administration’s agenda, saying it would reciprocate the gesture by making sure its electioneering campaign promises were fulfilled, just as he urged the Organised Labour Unions to exercise patience with government.
The Commissioner said the present administration would continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, by setting up the Public Private Partnership Office, Business Environment Council, Ogun State Investment Promotion Agency, as well as making processes of land acquisition, business registration easier to obtain, in order to attract local and foreign investors.
He expressed confidence that with the introduction of modern technology in the payment of taxes, revenue would be generated, as well as prevent leakages, saying tax payers could conveniently make payment, using their mobile phones or visit any commercial bank.
