The State Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, Commandant Hammed Abodunrin has commended the effort of the State Government at ensuring that security operatives, working round the clock, enforcing citizens’ adherence to the Covid-19 lockdown, were well catered for, saying the gesture was a morale boaster for the personnel in the State.
Commandant Abodunrin, who made this known in an interview with newsmen during the handing over of food items to security agencies, operating in the state, at the Model College, Akinale, Ewekoro, noted that security operatives would only be able to secure the environment if they themselves are well secured.
While commending citizens’ compliance level towards the lockdown in the State, he said their adherence to the lockdown had made their job easier, assuring of continued commitments to service delivery.
"I see this gesture as the state government recognising the fact that security operatives too are human beings, the uniform, the beret, the boot are not enough to ward away Corona virus, so it is only when you are also secured that you can secure other people, so I see it as the government addressing the insecurity of security operatives.
‘’This gesture will be a morale booster for our men that are working to enforce the lockdown. Compliance by the people in the state is comparatively fair, in fact, when we started, the level at which people complied was actually commendable", he said.
The Commander, Trace Corps, Commander Seni Ogunyemi and his So Safe Corp counterpart, Commander Soji Ganzallo, both described the gesture by the state government as highly motivational for their operatives, adding that the gesture would spur them to put more efforts in the discharge of their duties.
Also, the State Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, while appreciating the state government for giving to security operatives in the state the mother of all palliatives, added that they will ensure that the palliatives was well distributed among the operatives.
