Economic impact of dance and performing arts as an integral part of culture and the society have been emphasised, with a call on practitioners to fully utilise it for increase revenue generation for the State.

Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Taiwo Emmanuel Oluwatoyin stated this when the Guild of Nigeria Dance Practitioners, led by its Chairman, Isikilu Shittu paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

 Dr.  Taiwo who noted that the input of practitioners in the society would determine their output, assured them of government's full support in nurturing the association's vision of identifying and propagating arts and culture through dance.

According to him, "the present administration in the State, under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun is ready to support any activity that will bring development to the State, be rest assured that you will have the support of the Governor".

 The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mrs.  Melutia Ogunremi in her remarks said, earmarking every 29th of April as International Dance Day, signifies the inevitable and important aspect of dance to human life, encouraging the group to keep up the good work, as the Ministry promises more support.

 Speaking earlier, an ex- officio of the Guild, Mr.  Kayode Ayilara described dance as a tool that could be used to translate the culture of any society, to pass messages and information across all sectors of the society, saying organizing events such as dancing competitions, even at the grassroots, in partnership with the Ministry, would improve the State’s economy.
