As part of measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus, Ijebu-Ode Local Government has embarked on sensitisation exercise and provision of sanitation kits to all Head Teachers of public primary schools in the area.
Speaking during the exercise at St. Augustine Primary School, Ijebu-Ode, Chairman of the Local Government, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile said, it was necessary to inform teachers and pupils that personal hygiene was a preventive measure against the virus.
"We deem it fit as Government of the grassroots to procure hand washing buckets, soaps, bowls and sanitizer to our public schools. We have sensitised the Head Teachers, who will teach the teachers who will in-turn take care of pupils in their schools", he said.
In his remarks, the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr. Adeolu Olufowobi, underscored the importance of personal hygiene, saying it was necessary for pupils in the public primary schools to be given adequate sensitisation on the virus.
The Health Educator, in the Local Government, Mrs Abiola Bakare, said every individual should imbibe the habit of washing hands with liquid soap and running water, as well as sanitising their hands regularly, enjoining people to coughor sneeze into their elbows and dispose used tissue papers immediately.
In their separate remarks, a Health Coordinator, Mrs. Ulueme Oduniyi Adedayo and Head Teacher, Our Lady of Apostle's Primary School, Mr. Onasanya Olubanjo, who described the gesture as apt, appreciated the Local Government Council for providing the materials for all primary schools in Ijebu-Ode
