TRACE BOSS CAUTIONS OPERATIVES ON STRICT OBSERVANCE OF COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

The Corps Commander/Chief Executive Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Abdulfatai Olaseni Ogunyemi, has urged the Corps personnel to always submit themselves to discipline and observe all COVID 19 safety protocols while on duty.

He appealed to the Corps personnel to always consider their safety first, especially self hygiene while on duty, as they will continue to have direct contact with either traffic offenders or traffic crashes victims.

Corps Commander Ogunyemi, spoke through the TRACE Management Team led, Deputy TRACE Corps Commander, DTCC, Cdr. Bamidele S.A., while on inspection tour to Ota Area Command of the Corps.

Other top management officers in the visit include DPRS, Cdr. Ajayi M.B.,  AC T/PE, and Cdr. Abdul O.M.

He said the visit was to express the Corps Commander's appreciation to all workforce over the challenges encountered during the implementation of COVID 19 lockdown regulations.

He said it is 95th day now that the officers and men have been working tirelessly in supporting and enforcing goverments' directives to prevent the spread of the deadily pandemic in the state.

The Corps Commander enjoined the personnel to continue to work diligently with the consideration of observing all COVID 19 protocols, especially self hygiene as the pandemic still existing in the country.

"Our men have thoroughly sensitised on every health advice that would prevent them from contracting the deadly virus, all we expected from them as law enforcement agency is to strictly obey the rules and regulations that would also guaranteed their safety while on duty even beyond.

Corps Commander Ogunyemi, urged motorists to always drive cautiously especially during this raining season.

He lamented that it is amazing some motorists still drive recklessly on the road as if they travel with photocopies of their bodies and life while original ones are kept at home, adding that this was happening against the backdrop of series of fatal accidents caused by same nonchalant attitude to careful driving.

He enjoined motorists to "imbibe on defensive driving culture and ensure their vehicles are in good working condition with functioning components, avoid excess speed, wrongful overtaking, driving at night and with influence of drugs or alcohol on the pretence of cold during this raining season even with the condition of road".

"We also appeal to pedestrians not cross the road where there's an obstruction that could prevent them from see oncoming vehicle and they should ensure they face traffic while walking on the highway. All okada riders are expected to ride cautiously and always make use of crash helmets", he enjoined.
