The Assistant Inspector General of Police incharge of Zone-2, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu psc+ has clearly reiterated his warning to residents of Lagos and Ogun State to desist from all forms of criminalities with decisions of the zone to carry out professional discreet approach towards issues of gender offences such as rape.

Ahmed Iliyasu said armed robbers, cultists, kidnappers, rapists and other animalistic behaviour caught would always made to face the consequences in accordance with the law of the land.
The AIG, popularly called 'Lion in police uniform' made this known in his address during the kick-off of  'Campaign Against Rape (CAR)' Initiative, a campaign organised against raping and gender violence inconjunction with Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC Southwest yesterday at Zone 2, Police Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.
AIG Iliyasu, while thanking the initiator of the programme, said police would always partner with PCRC and other charity organisations to curb crime related issues in the country.

According to Iliyasu "well I have to appreciate today, today is a landmark, 3rd of July, 2020, today is ever unprecedented in the history of Campaign Against Rape and other gender violence and criminalities" so that the banditry, kidnapping, abduction and insurgency, but it sounds out clearly. Rape and other gender offences are fight bestia, this animalistic behavior, antisocial behavior, a crime against humanity,  a crime against person's, crime against human being, rape is quite pramordial, bestia, inhuman act, snatching innocent people, committing harm against their bodies. We are against that".

 "Our Inspector General of Police just recently, also engage a high level discuss on campaign against rape and other gender offences. Our stands in Zone2 is very clear, this kind of offences against human body, we have decided in Zone-2 to carry out discreet and professional approach towards issue of gender offences especially Rape".

"Today is a landmark day, by renceiving this NGO, Campaign Against Rape in conjunction with the PCRC which is a very strong arm of community Policing engagement, this shows the kind of trust NGO and some other charity organizations have for the police, and I want to make it very clear not only rape, we move against in totality, against any type of crime and criminalities, and I want to make it very clear that we don't condone any rapist in Zone-2, please park your things and leave, that will not be allowed, our two commissioners of police have stood against that, and we have all our gender violence sections, where by intelligent and professional investigation are carried out in terms of offences of this nature".

"I appreciate the media for having this robust engagement with us and all other partners in the news strategy of community Policing engagement. The Community policing engagement that is going down now to the communities, working with the community not only policing of the community but policing with the community, would be part of the greatest solution to this kind of gender violence because it happens in the communities and other areas like the garages or  motor parks. So, engaging NGO's  and PCRC which is also a partner in this community Policing engagement and other charity organizations, definitely we find a solution to it".
Iliyasu added that "This is in line with the charter of United Nations and other organizations nationally and also the strategy of the Federal Government as well as the direction of the Inspector General of Police, we are committed to this, we'll continue to follow due diligence, due process in fighting all kinds of criminality especially this gender violence that is Rape, it is bestia, inhuman, primordial and imprimitive behavior, therefore it is totally unacceptable and we'll uphold all the extent laws and rules of engagement as far as cases concerning Rape is concerned".

"I appreciate this NGO and our strong community Policing arm, that is the PCRC from Lagos, Ogun and Southwest in general. Thank you much for this drive, it's a big kudos to you" Iliyasu concluded.

The CAR Initiator, Comrade Kunle Sodipo, said the group decided to flag off the protest at Zone-2 being known AIG Iliyasu as zero tolerance Police Chief for any form of criminality.
"We decided to flag off this campaign against rape and gender violence in this zone in honour of a man best described as diligent, upright, teacher and father to the core. He is a lion that didn't roar in vain, all criminals found theirselves out of his environment when he roar."

The campaign, according to Sodipo would be a continuous programme across the country until the case of rape and gender violence become a thing of the past.

Comrade Sodipo, thanked police officers for all efforts and higher role playing in curbing crimes in the country. He further appreciated the PCRC Southwest National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, PCRC Southwest Legal Director, Barrister Akewusola Shitto, PCRC Southwest Director for Communications, Comrade Temidayo Babalola,  Zone2 PCRC Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Balogun, Lagos PCRC Chairman, Apostle Kehinde Sowemimo and other reputable delegates for being part of the kick-off program.
