AMOTEKUN OSUN NABS ANOTHER SET OF 63 SUSPECTED ILLEGAL MINERS

Sixty three suspected illegal miners from Zamfara State were today apprehended by men of Amotekun Corps, State of Osun, at Ikire, in Irewole local government area of the state.

The suspected illegal miners who were stocked inside a truck, despite boundary closure, found their way, into the state of Osun, from far away Zamfara, northwest Nigeria.

When nabbed, the Amotekun Corps on the enforcement of boundary closure immediately got in touch with the Irewole Local government chairman, Hon. Remi Abass; and his counterpart in Irewole Northeast LCDA, Hon. Opeyemi Adeboye.

The Amotekun men also informed the DPO of Ikire Division, who sent his men to assist the state owned security corps.

After interrogations, during which they confessed their mission, the 63 men were sent out of the state of Osun, through Osun/Oyo boundary, along Ogbomosho/Osogbo road.

It would be recalled that the Amotekun Corps in Osun had, at different occasions, in May, apprehended such dubious people around Osun/Oyo and Osun/Kwara boundaries, even during the total lockdown then and shown them the way back, so as to forestall the spread of the dreaded Corona Virus.

Since April 24, 2020, when Governor ADEGBOYEGA OYETOLA appointed Comrade Amitolu Shittu, as the pioneer Director General, Amotekun, state of Osun, the adhoc men being used to test run the operation of the state owned security agency have never been found wanting in the area of intelligence gathering, enforcement of boundary closure and fight against illegal mining activities, among others.
