OGUN SET TO AUTOMATE PHYSICAL PLANNING DOCUMENTATIONS

In its resolve to phase out the existing conventional system and remove bottle necks associated with securing planning and development permits in Ogun State, government has taken steps towards automation of the processes for better service delivery.

Speaking at a One- Day Training exercise organized for Directors, Heads of departments and Zonal Town Planning Officers in the State at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development Tpl Olatunji Odunlami, said the steps would remove delay and enhance professionalism.

TPL Odunlami noted that the training, tagged, "Ogun State Electronic Physical Planning Process" was to make it easier to obtain building permit from the comfort of an applicant's office, home or outside the State and country, thereby making the State more attractive for Investors.

He stated further that the training would enhance and improve the knowledge of participants, expose them to required skills and knowledge, with special focus on Electronic Physical Planning, assuring them that the introduction of Information Technology (IT) would make their job easier and faster.

The Commissioner said the system would start with pilot which would be used in some areas and be extended to other parts of the State, once found effective, urging the trainees to embrace the system, so as to work differently from what it used to b

Contributing, a team leader, Engr.  Abdulhamed Mustapha, explained that with the introduction of E- Planning (IT) in Physical Planning, applicants can easily request for service at the comfort of their zones.

Speaking on behalf of participants, Odogbolu Zonal Planning Officer, TPL. Gbenga Olatunji, appreciated the management of the Ministry for the initiative, which he noted would fast-track development in the State, assuring of their readiness to move town planning to greater heights through quality service delivery
