Celebrating Service and Integrity: The Professional Milestones of CSP Akeem Babatunde Ahmed

Lagos, Nigeria – In the ever-demanding landscape of law enforcement, few names resonate as strongly as Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Akeem Babatunde Ahmed, a Lagos prince and seasoned officer of the Nigeria Police Force whose remarkable career continues to inspire both within and outside the service.

Born in the 1980s, Prince Akeem began his educational journey at St. Saviour’s Primary School, Oniwaya, Agege, before advancing to Fagba Grammar School, Iju. His academic pursuit of excellence set the tone for his career: he holds a Diploma in Crime Control and Management from the University of Ilorin, an Advanced Diploma in Law Enforcement and Administration from the University of Lagos, and a Diploma in Computer Science. He further earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Security Studies from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and Strategic Studies from the University of Lagos.

Professional Training and Specialization
Over the years, CSP Ahmed has broadened his professional expertise through both local and international training. These include: Prosecution Course at Detective College, Enugu (2007), Public Order Course at the Spanish Embassy, Abuja (2010), PMF Training School, Gwoza, Maiduguri (2010), Human Rights Course (2011), Forensic Course (2019), Nigeria Army 81 Division Operations Planning Cadre (2021) and Criminal Investigation Skills, Process & Ethics (2024).

This wealth of training underscores his versatility in modern policing and his strong emphasis on professionalism, human rights, and crime prevention strategies.

Career Journey in the Police Force
CSP Ahmed’s career trajectory reflects resilience, loyalty, and exceptional leadership. He has held several strategic positions across commands and formations, including: Team Leader, Anti-Robbery Section, Kwara State (2007), Officer-in-Charge, Awa Ijebu Outpost (2008), Escort Commander to HRM Obateru Frederick Akinruntan (2009), Unit Commander, PMF 20 Lagos (2009–2013), Unit Commander, PMF 39 (2013), Camp Commander, Ogun State Government House (2013), Administrative Officer, Ogun State Government House (2014–2019), Officer-in-Charge, D15 Section, SCID Panti, Lagos (2019–2020), Operations One, Area B Command, Apapa (2020), Second-in-Command, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos (2020–2023), SWAT, FCID Annex Lagos (2024), Second-in-Command, MOPOL 16, Abeokuta (2024) and presently, he serves at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters Annex, Obalende, Lagos, where he continues to demonstrate visionary leadership and tactical expertise.

Advocacy for Humane and Community-Oriented Policing
What sets CSP Ahmed apart is not just his professional achievements, but his philosophy of policing. He has consistently advocated for community-oriented policing, blending firmness with compassion to ensure that law enforcement remains effective, yet humane and respectful of human rights. His mentorship of younger officers and innovative strategies in crime prevention have further cemented his legacy.

International Recognition and Memberships
CSP Ahmed is a respected member of global policing and diplomatic circles. He is an associate member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (USA), a member of the International Homicide Investigators Association (USA), and a member of Best Diplomats (USA).

Awards and Honors
His contributions have earned him recognition at home and abroad. Most recently, he was honored as the Outstanding Crime Buster of the Year at the 11th Annual TMnews Summit and Awards 2024, held at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island.
