The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Ogun State Chapter, has honoured the Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Tpl. (Mrs.) Amope Chokor with the IT Solution Enabler of the Year Award, for being in the vanguard of promoting the use of Information Technology (IT) in the State’s Civil Service.

Receiving the Award at the Valley-view Auditorium, Oke-Igbein, Abeokuta, the Head of Service stated that the State government in its quest to run e-governance had commenced the process of digitisation of its activities, by ensuring availability of database for all Civil Servants.

She revealed that she embraced IT for the State’s workforce since she became the Permanent Secretary in the Civil Service Commission by deploying Computer graduates as Programme Analysts to various Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

While appreciating NCS for the award, Tpl Chokor acknowledged its contribution in ensuring that the State was IT compliant, saying, "we recognise the fact that IT is very important and the current administration has supported professionals in this field through Ogun Tech-Hub and has engaged experts to train young IT professionals’’.

Presenting the ‘IT Solution Enabler of the Year Award’, the President of the Society, Prof. Adesina Sodiya, said it was a means of appreciating the HoS’ support in Information Technology, which had improved service delivery in the State.

He highlighted the importance of IT in the global world, charging her not to relent in her meritorious services to the development of the Civil Service and the State.
