GOV ABIODUN: WE'LL FOCUS ON PEOPLE ORIENTED PROJECTS

Ogun State Government has said that it would not embark on frivolous spending, rather, strategically allocate resources to projects that have direct and positive impact on the people.

The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun stated this at the Turning of Sod of Ijebu-Ode-Epe road, noting that, the reconstruction of the road would not only ease traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, but also bring relief to people by saving ‘’Nigerians value time on traffic’’, as well as, engender the socio-economic development of the State.

"One of our promises was to provide infrastructure to all parts of the State. We promised that our administration will rehabilitate and reconstruct the Ogun State segment of Ijebu-Ode-Epe road to bring the needed relief and succour to our people and engender economic development of our dear State", he recalled.

"Today's event is yet another instant in promise made and promise kept. As a government that places premium on integrity, we shall continue to keep our promises", he pledged.

The Governor assured that interconnecting roads between Ogun and neighbouring states would be prioritised towards bringing greater economic prosperity, noting that road reconstruction was on going simultaneously across the three Senatorial Districts, while the reconstructed Ota-Ikola road would soon be opened.

He enjoined people of the areas to join hands with government and the contractor to ensure speedy completion of the project, adding that it was imperative for the elders and youths to see themselves as stakeholders in the efforts to ‘Building Our Future Together’.

Prince Abiodun called on the contractor to ensure that youths in the areas were adequately engage in the project, charging the youths to take the opportunity offered by the project to engage themselves in profitable venture.

          The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya earlier in his welcome address said the road project was a demonstration of government’s sincerity in providing enduring infrastructure to all parts of the State.

He said the project was germane, as it would be easier linking Lagos, thus improving the economic and social well-being of those in the axis, assuring that the road would be completed on record time.

The Contractor in charge of the construction, Gilbert Sassine eulogised the laudable initiative of the government, promising to deliver the completed work within the stipulated time of 12 months for the benefit of mankind.

In their goodwill messages, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, represented by Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Yinusa Adekoya, thanked the State government for ensuring even distribution of amenities to all parts of the State, while the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, appreciated Governor Abiodun for the project, saying it would help in fast-tracking the economic well-being of the State.

The Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle lauded the Governor for taking development to all parts of the State, while the representative of members of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Atinuke Bello, said the reconstruction would create jobs and improve business values in Odogbolu Local Government and other affected areas.

The Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Yemi Sanusi, Chairman or Community Development Association, amongst others, also took turn to commend the Governor for the gesture.
